CAPA presents the MENOPAUSE THE MUSICAL®

Pat Metheny’s versatility is nearly without peer on any instrument. Over the years, he has performed with artists from Herbie Hancock to David Bowie in a body of work that includes compositions for solo guitar, small ensembles, electric and acoustic instruments, large orchestras, and ballet pieces in settings ranging from modern jazz to rock to classical. In his latest project, the Pat Metheny Unity Group, Metheny has assembled a group of multi-instrumental musicians that are as talented as they come—Antonio Sanchez, Chris Potter, Ben Williams, and Giulio Carmassi—to form a platform that can cover the entire spectrum of his 40-plus-year career and enable him to further integrate his concept of orchestration. Tickets are $48-$68 at the CAPA Ticket Center (39 E. State St.), all Ticketmaster outlets, and www.ticketmaster.com. To purchase tickets by phone, please call (614) 469-0939 or (800) 745-3000. www.capa.com

The Columbus Symphony presents CONCERTO FESTIVAL

Guest conductor Gregory Vajda and guest pianist Lilya Zilberstein join the CSO to celebrate the remarkable diversity of the concerto. While the Bach piano concerto is serious and substantial, the Shostakovich piece is a high-spirited romp featuring a major part for solo trumpet. Stravinsky’s work, inspired by Bach’s Brandenburg concertos, is a prime example of the athletic, lean-textured school of Neo-Classicism. Tickets start at $25 and can be purchased at the CAPA Ticket Center (39 E. State St.), all Ticketmaster outlets, and www.ticketmaster.com. To purchase tickets by phone, please call (614) 228-8600 or (800) 745-3000. www.columbussymphony.com

The Columbus Symphony presents CARMEN IN CONCERT

Bizet’s Carmen overflows with alluring and familiar melodies as it tells the spellbinding story of a beautiful but heartless Spanish gypsy woman who leads a naïve young army officer into a tempest of passion and betrayal. This CSO collaboration with Opera Columbus brings to life Carmen’s vibrant world with a cast of outstanding singers, the Columbus Symphony Chorus, and Columbus Children’s Chorus, all conducted by Jean-Marie.
