10 years ago today, we lost a music legend. Johnny Cash died, aged 71, on September 12th, 2003.
Although he is primarily remembered as a country icon, his songs and sound spanned other genres including rock and roll and rockabilly – especially early in his career – blues, folk, and gospel. This, in-turn, brought him no shortage of fans and friends.
In tribute, we are looking back at some of the covers performed by some of those friends/fans and some of the covers the man himself made.
Norah Jones – Ain’t No Grave
Blondie – Ring of Fire
Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon – It Ain’t Me Babe
Chris Isaak – Ring of Fire
Johnny Cash – Hurt (Nine Inch Nails cover)
Johnny Cash – Bridge Over Troubled Water (Simon & Garfunkle Cover)
