COLUMBUS – The city of Columbus wants schoolkids to be busy when the state’s largest district goes on spring break April 13.

The city’s community centers, libraries and other attractions are planning a variety of programs and activities intended to keep the thousands of children busy.
“We know that our kids are safe when they’re in school. We need to provide safe spaces for them when school’s out and activities to keep them engaged and involved and growing,” said Mayor Andrew Ginther.
City community centers are open, some including Beatty on the Near East Side, Glenwood on the Hilltop and both Linden centers, with extended hours and special programming.
Columbus Metropolitan Libraries are offering programs like YouMedia, in which young people can drop in to create music, videos and digital art with the help of mentors.
Columbus City Schools is hosting a matinee movie day on April 20 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Linden-McKinley High School.
Boys and Girls Clubs of Columbus are offering a variety of spring break programs at their locations in Milo-Grogan and in the Reeb Center on the South Side.
The Columbus Museum of Art, Franklin Park Conservatory, Columbus Zoo, YMCA and COSI are also offering special programming, city and school district officials announced Monday.
