The legendary Jerry Garcia was lost to us after suffering a heart attack 18 years ago today.

In addition to being the guitarist and singer of The Grateful Dead died , Garcia co-founded the New Riders of the Purple Sage and also released several solo albums. He was well known for his distinctive guitar playing and was ranked 13th in Rolling Stone’s “100 Greatest Guitarist’s of All Time.”

In tribute, we are looking back at some of The Dead’s legendary performances throughout the years.
