Crew advances to Concacaf Champions Cup semis

COLUMBUS – The Crew advanced to the Concacaf Champions Cup semifinals for first time in club history by virtue of a shootout win over Tigres UANL Tuesday night in the second leg of the quarterfinals at the Estadio Universitario in San Nicolás de los Garza, Mexico.

Max Arfsten gave the Crew a 4-3 win in the penalty shootout after Diego Rossi leveled the scoring in the 59th minute with a right-footed shot from inside the penalty area.

Columbus will play CF Monterrey in a semifinal match.

The Crew return to MLS play against Real Salt Lake at America First Field on Saturday (9:30 p.m.).
