COLUMBUS – A Hilliard man will spend 16 years behind bars for the murder of his wife, whose body was found at Griggs Reservoir in 2020.
Walter Boyuk pled guilty on Monday to a charge of involuntary manslaughter with a three-year firearm specification, and tampering with evidence, in the shooting that killed his wife, Kathleen, according to a release from the office of Franklin County Prosecutor Gary Tyack.
The 79-year-old Boyuk admitted to shooting and killing his wife of more than 50 years at Griggs Reservoir on Oct. 22, 2020, then staging the crime scene to appear as if there had been a robbery.
Ballistic evidence at the scene, as well as cell phone evidence, and inconsistency in his statements to family members and law enforcement led to his arrest that same day by the Columbus police.
