COLUMBUS – A 15-year-old Grove City girl who was the subject of a statewide Amber Alert was recovered safely and the boy accused of abducting her taken into custody Saturday afternoon, a few hours after the alert was issued.

Kaylee Cope (right) was in the company of Jeffrey Gimenez, 17, a wanted felon who had posted social media threats against the girl prior to her abduction, according to Grove City police.
Kaylee’s mother reported at 5:45 a.m. Saturday that her daughter had left their home on Independence Way during the night and was not answering her phone, police said.

Police learned that Kaylee was with Gimenez (left), her boyfriend, who was wanted in Pickaway County on charges of robbery and kidnapping and was feared to be armed and dangerous, police said.
Gimenez had posted on social media Friday that he “has a bullet” for Kaylee, according to information in the alert.
Kaylee was recovered just after 2:40 p.m. and Gimenez taken into custody during a traffic stop in Pleasant Township, authorities said.
