The song became popular in the United States largely because of the bands unusual look in the video to the song. “I Ran (So Far Away)” was inspired by another band’s song called “I Ran” they heard at a club in Liverpool, and a poster seen at “Zoo Records” featuring a man and woman running away from flying saucer (which would later become the band’s album cover).
