“Dancing in the Dark” is from Bruce Springsteen’s 1984 album “Born in the USA” and peaked at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 (kept from #1 by Duran Duran’s “The Reflex). Bruce wrote the song in one night after his record company rep told him the album still needed a single. It took 6 takes and 58 mixes before it was approved for the album. Courtney Cox famously danced on stage with Springsteen in the video and Bruce thought she was really a random, pre-selected fan from the audience to come on stage, not knowing she was an actress flew in from NYC, who had appeared on the soap “Another World.”
