“The Flame” is from Cheap Trick’s 1988 album “Lap Of Luxury” and peaked at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song was originally written for English singer Elkie Brooks, who turned it down; Cheap Trick were offered a demo of “The Flame” and “Look Away,” with the song they decided not to record going to the band Chicago. Cheap Trick liked “The Flame” better and the rest is history.
