Dancing in the Street is a single from David Bowie and Mick Jagger released in 1985 to raise money for Live Aid famine relief and peaked at #7 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song was co-written by Marvin Gaye and first recorded by Martha and the Vandellas in 1964; their version peaked at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Bowie and Jagger recorded the song at Abby Road in London and the video was filmed at London Docklands. The video would play twice during the live broadcast of Live Aid in 1985. Over the years, the song has been recorded by many artists in a slew of different genres, including The Kinks, Van Halen, The Mamas and the Papas, The Grateful Dead and The Everly Brothers.
