Soldier of Love is from Donny Osmond’s 1988 self titled album and peaked at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100. Initially, Soldier of Love was only released in the UK because Donny was not signed to a record label in the United States. A cassette of the song was sent to New York radio station, WPLJ Program Director, Jessica Ettinger, whom was a big fan of Donny’s. She played the song in regular rotation on her station as a mystery artist for several weeks. Soldier of Love was still not available in the United States. After weeks of having listeners guess the artist, she revealed it was Donny Osmond with Donny live in the studio. Osmond was soon signed to Capital Records and the mystery artist promotion was copied nationwide. The video to Soldier of Love was filmed in London at the Docklands.
