Name That Tune – Fleetwood Mac – Landslide

“Landslide” is from Fleetwood Mac’s self titled, 1975 album and was written in about 5 minutes by Stevie Nicks, while surrounded by mountains and snow in Aspen, Colorado. Stevie was at a crossroads where she was contemplating quitting her search for fame and going back to school. She had told her dad she would try for another 6 months and if things didn’t work out, she would go in a different direction. “Landslide” was written the night before Stevie’s father was due to go in to surgery.

The song has been covered by many over the years, including the Dixie Chicks (in 2003) who won 3 awards for their version. “Landslide” was also used in a 2013 Budweiser Super Bowl commercial.
