“Cats in the Cradle” is from Harry Chapin’s 1974 album “Verities and Balderdash” and peaked at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The songs lyrics began as a poem written by Chapin’s wife Sandra, inspired by the awkward relationship between her first husband and her father. Chapin has also said in past interviews that the song is also about his own relationship with his son. “Cats in the Cradle” was inducted in to the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2011.
