Name That Tune – John Mellencamp – Small Town

“Small Town” is from John Mellencamp’s 1985 album “Scarecrow” and peaked at #6 on the Billboard Hot 100. Mellencamp wrote the song in the laundry room of his old house about his experiences growing up in Seymour and Bloomington, Indiana, and how you don’t have to move to a big city, away from where you grew up to have a good life.  NBA legend Larry Byrd (who grew up in French Lick, Indiana) used the song during his 1993 retirement ceremony.
