St. Elmo’s Fire (Man in Motion) was written by David Foster and John Parr specifically for the movie, but is also written about Canadian athlete Rick Hansen, who was traveling around the world in his wheelchair to raise awareness of spinal injuries. His journey was called “The Man in Motion” tour.
