Name That Tune – Lou Gramm – Midnight Blue

Midnight Blue is from Lou Gramm’s 1987, debut solo album, Ready or Not and peaked at #5 on the Billboard Hot 100. In an interview with online website “Songfacts,” Lou says that the song is written about life and how it’s pretty simple, it’s either “everything going best as it can, or “cherry red” or it’s “dark and mysterious, or “midnight blue.” Gramm wrote this song with Bruce Turgon, a longtime friend who was in an early band with Gramm called Black Sheep. In 1992, Turgon became the bass player in Foreigner, a position he held until Gramm left the band in 2003.  REM covered the song on their 1987 tour. Check out Lou’s amazing mullet in the video! It’s pretty rad 😉
