Name That Tune traveled back to the days of MTV’s peak this morning, with Michael Jackson and an epic video, directed by Martin Scorsese.
“Bad” is the title track from Michael Jackson’s 1987 album and peaked at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Jackson was influenced by a real-life story he read, about a young man who tried to escape poverty by going to private school, only to be shot and killed when returning to his neighborhood.
The video co-stars Wesley Snipes (in one of his very first acting roles) and was inspired by West Side Story. The anticipation for the video was so great, that CBS gave it it’s own prime time debut special in August of 1987.
