“Maniac” is from Michael Sembello’s 1983 album “Bossa Nova Hotel” as well as the soundtrack to the movie “Flashdance.” The song peaked at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was originally written by Sembello as a horror theme after watching a slasher film. “Maniac” spent two weeks at number one and is one of the highest-grossing songs ever written for a film. “Maniac” and “Flashdance, What A Feeling” were both nominated for an Academy Award, with “Flashdance” taking home the award.
