“West End Girls” is from the Pet Shop Boys 1985 album ” Please” and peaked at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song was originally released as a single in 1984 before being re-released in 1985 from the album and was written about the concern of class and pressure of inner city life. “West End Girls” was also partly inspired by the T.S. Elliot poem “The Waster Land.”
