“Smooth” is from Santana’s 1999 album “Supernatural” and spent 12 weeks at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Because of when the song was released, “Smooth” would be the last #1 of the 90s and the first #1 of the 2000’s, winning 3 Grammy awards along the way. The song started out with the title “Room 17” until it was given to Rob Thomas to re-write; after finishing the song, Rob had originally envisioned George Michael on vocals, but Santana asked Rob to sing. In a twist of fate, Rob met his wife while filming the video for “Smooth.”
