Name That Tune traveled back to 1989 this morning with a song that was originally recorded in 1983, where it was a hit in the band’s native Canada.
“When I’m With You” is from Canadian band Sherrif’s self titled album and peaked at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1989; 4 years after the band broke up. Aside from being one of the few songs to have a promotional video during the MTV era, lead singer Freddy Curci holds the record for the longest note help by a male pop singer, with the ending note at 19.4 seconds!
