Name That Tune – Stevie Nicks – Stand Back

“Stand Back” is from Stevie Nicks’ 1983 album “The Wild Heart” and peaked at #5 on the Billboard Hot 100. Based on Prince’s “Little Red Corvette,” Stevie heard the song in the back of a limo on the day of her wedding. She started humming the melody and hit a studio that nigth to start laying down the track. Stevie called Prince to let him know that she’d came up with a song using the melody from his song; Prince showed up at the studio that night (in a purple car) and played synthesizer on the song. While he didn’t received writing credit, Stevie did split the royalties with the Purple One.
