Name That Tune took a trip back to 1979 this morning with Supertramp and “Goodbye Stranger.” The song peaked at #15 on the Billboard Hot 100. “Goodbye Stranger” is said to be based on the delicate relationship and it’s troubles between song writing partners Roger Hodgson and Rick Davies, whom hadn’t written together in quite some time when they started on “Breakfast in America.” The song has been used in many television shows and movies over the years, including WKRP in Cincinnati, The Office and the soundtrack to the 1999 film Magnolia.
