Name That Tune – The Pointer Sisters – Fire

“Fire” is from the Pointer Sister’s 1978 album “Energy” and peaked at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100.  The song  would also bring the sisters an international hit, going all the way to the top of the charts in several countries, including Australia, Germany and the UK. The song was written by Bruce Springsteen in 1977 after seeing Elvis perform in Philadelphia and was intended for him to record, but he passed away before getting the demo sent to him by Springsteen.

Over the years in interviews, Anita Pointer has said that “Fire” was their first gold single, and, being played over and over around the world (unlike their gold albums) would make a huge difference in their career.
