Name That Tune took us back to 1978 this morning with one of the greatest bands of all time; The Rolling Stones!
“Beast of Burden” is from The Stones 1978 album “Some Girls” and peaked at #8 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song is also on Rolling Stone magazines list of “The 500 Greatest Songs Of All Time.” In a 2003 interview, Keith Richards says the song was written as a thank you to Mick for “shouldering the burden” while he was getting sober.
Bette Midler covered “Beast of Burden” in 1984 on her album “No Frills” and the video features she and Jagger chatting in her dressing room before they go on stage to perform the song together.
