Barrett broke school records for career touchdowns, but Ohio State’s passing game struggled against better defenses, including in the Fiesta Bowl rout.
He led Ohio State with 3,275 yards of total offense while accounting for 33 touchdowns in his junior season.
Barrett led the Buckeyes to an 11-1 record in 2014 before breaking his leg in the final game and watching from the sideline as Cardale Barrett led the team to a national championship.
Earlier Wednesday, linebacker Raekwon McMillan announced he would leave early for the NFL draft. He was the third member of Ohio State’s defense to declare for the NFL draft, following All-American safety Malik Hooker and cornerback Gareon Conley.
The unanimous All-Big Ten player the past two seasons had 15 tackles and a sack of Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson in Ohio State’s loss to the Tigers.
