COLUMBUS – It’s a dream job for someone: Getting paid to play with Legos.
The search is on for a “master model builder” at the Legoland Discovery Center coming to Easton Town Center this fall.
The post is indeed a full-time position for someone who is an expert builder and excellent teacher and can survive the grueling “interview” process, said Jacob Kristensen, the center’s general manager.
The job involves leading the center’s creative workshop, constructing large-scale models, making media appearances and mentoring children. Kristensen says it also comes with a personal studio with an endless supply of Legos.
“We’re looking for individuals who have a passion for building with LEGO bricks and are able to translate that into a desire to teach and interact with guests as the ambassador of our attraction,” Kristensen said.
There are only 23 other master builders in the world and this would be the only one in Ohio, he said.
The interview process, which consists of a traditional interview, also includes a two-day competition the company calls “Brick Factor,” where selected applicants build Lego models, narrowing the field over the course of three rounds that will be held at Easton Town Center on May 5-6.
The Legoland Discovery Center Columbus is a 36,000-square-foot indoor attraction that features global and local landmarks made from Lego bricks, amusement rides, a 4-D cinema and build-and-play areas, the company said.
