OSU not playing around with new gaming programs

COLUMBUS – Students at The Ohio State University will soon be able to turn their passion for gaming into a career.

The University’s new “eSports” program will allow students to study gaming production, business, and even the impact on health, according to a report on WBNS 10-TV. The program is slated to debut in 2019.

The program will offer undergraduate and graduate degrees as well as opportunities for students in other majors to join competitive gaming teams.

Creators of the program say the hope is to appeal to a broader group of students.

The university’s medical center is doing research, other OSU groups are looking at it from a curriculum standpoint and a student life perspective, associate vice president for student life Molly Ranz Calhoun said.
